Biography

I am doing my PhD in Spanish + Portuguese UC Berkeley, where I focus on Andean literature and art. I have, logically, traveled a lot to South America, particularly Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru. In 2006 I spent two months in Cochabamba learning Quechua, one of the harder languages I have endeavored to learn. I also am pulled toward hyper-aware, depressive artists like José María Arguedas, Sylvia Plath, Alejandra Pizarnik, Anais Nin, Jaime Saenz and assorted other enfants terribles lurking in corners, disrupting systems.

Two of my favorite artists and thinkers from Bolivia are Julieta Paredes and Alejandra Dorado. Brave and fearless.

I have yet to figure out how to become a body without organs, but like to push limits and imagine spaces prior to language, prior to classification, prior to subject formation.
